Beaumettes
Beaumettes is a common French, located in the department of Vaucluse and the area Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure.
Geography
The village is in edge of the trunk road 100, in against-low hill relatively low.
The hill with the three-quarter is timbered, broadside in the south by the valley of Calavon, in the east by the commune of Goult and in north by the commune of Gordes.
The commune of Beaumettes is in the perimeter of the Regional natural park of Luberon.
This village of course has any relationship with the Prison of Baumettes in the Rhone delta.
History
Neolithic habitat.
The site was already occupied by the Romans as shows it the vestiges of the Roman villa of Make-of-Wolf.
At the 11th century, the territory depends on the county of Forcalquier. It is mentioned in 1055 under the name of " Balma" who wants to say cave .
Stronghold of the Saint-Victor abbey of Marseilles.
At the 14th century, the country was devastated by bands of Truck drivers. Stronghold of the baron of Sault, vassal of the Beams.
In 1471, the village was uninhabited.
At the 16th century, it is a seigniory of Autric of Vintimille.
At the end of the 20th century, the trunk road 100 is deviated towards the outside of the village.
Heraldic
Of azure to the which charms gold wolf, armed and lampassé of mouths, accompanied as a chief with dextral by a star with sixteen gold rays.
" The star with sixteen rays of or" is that of the family of the Beams and the " Loup" is that of the family of Agoult.

A local market is each Thursday. The village has a school, several craftsmen (old doors and republication, candied fruits, marble-mason's yard, etc) and of the trade of tourism.
