Beaume (river)
The Beaume or Baume is a river with waters running and limpid of the department French of the Ardeche and the area the Rhone-Alps. It is an affluent of the Ardèche out of Right Bank, therefore a tributary of a tributary of the the Rhone.
Geography
It takes its source with Rochemisole, close to the village of Loubaresse and runs out towards south-east to throw itself in the Ardèche downstream from Ruoms. It crosses the principal villages of Valgorge, Joyeuse and Labeaume.
Hydrology
The interannual medium flow or module of Beaume was observed and calculated during 13 years with Saint-Alban-Auriolles. He assembles himself to 7,56 m ³ a second for a surface of basin of 251 km ². The river present of the typical seasonal fluctuations of flow of a Cevennes rain mode, with high waters of autumn-winter, prolonged in spring by the rain and snow melt, carrying the average monthly flow on the level from 7 to 14 m ³ from October at May included (with an in March maximum - April), followed by a fast fall of the flow leading to one short period of low water level in July - August, involving a fall of the monthly medium flow up to 1,65 m ³ in July.
The VCN3 can fall until 0,192 m ³, in the event of dry decennial period. The VCN3 is the past minimal quantity or minimal flow over three days consecutive.
As for the risings, they can be extremely important, following in that the Cevennes model. Indeed, the QIX 2 or calculated flow of rising biennial, and the QIX 5 or flow calculated for a quinquennial rising is worth respectively 317 and 535 m ³ a second. The QIX 10 or calculated flow of decennial rising as well as the QIX 20 and the QIX 50 was not calculated. (see note).
The recorded maximum instantaneous flow with Saint-Alban-Auriolles is of 683 m ³ a second.
Following the example close rivers Ardeche and Chassezac, Beaume is a very abundant river. The Lame of water past in the catchment area of the river is of 996 millimetres annually, which is very high, three times superior with the French average, all confused basins, and results from abundant precipitations in all the area of the the Cevennes. The specific flow (Qsp) is assembled thus at 31,4 liters a second and per square kilometer of basin.
Tourism
According to the season and the level of water, one can practice the bathe, fishing, the kayak and be made gild with the southernmost sun on sand beaches.
