Beatrice de Rothschild

Béatrice de Rothschild (of its true name Charlotte Béatrix, or Mrs. Maurice Ephrussi) is a richissime member of the Famille Rothschild, born in the 1st district of Paris the September 14th 1864 and died in Davos in Suisse the April 7th 1934

Biography

Girl of the baron Alphonse de Rothschild it marries the June 5th 1883 the Russian billionaire Juif Maurice Ephrussi (Famille Ephrussi)

The couple is impassioned of Architecture, Nature and Art and collects the sumptuous residences and the collections of the most priceless objects.

With Paris, Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild resides in a private mansion of the 19 Avenue Foch (today the Ambassade of Angola).

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild

She makes build, between 1905 and 1912, the “Villa Ile-de-France” (Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild) with Saint-Jean-Cape-Ferrat in the the Alpes-Maritimes between Nice and Monaco. She also has the “Villa Sun” and the “Villa Rose de France” with Monte Carlo.

With its death without descent the April 7th 1934 at the 75 years age, to Swiss Davos in , the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is bequeathed to the Institut of France and opened to the public and to his younger brother, the baron Edouard de Rothschild inherits his fortune.

“I re-examine the face of Mrs. Maurice Ephrussi, born from Rothschild, a face with the fine features framed of money hair. She was always vêtue of blue nattier, a of the same ribbon color retaining her loops, small a Fox-terrier " Go " slept with its feet. Mrs. Ephrussi lived very simply in spite of her great fortune. One murmured indeed that it had a great preoccupation with an economy, however it sometimes happened to him to invite his friends to sumptuous evenings and I remember one night of summer, where we had the privilege to see, in the gardens of its hotel drawn with the Frenchwoman, and bathed of moonlight, Pavlova to dance on night of Chopin. ”
