Beat-blocking

A beat-blocking or β-blocking is a Médicament which blocks the adrenergic action of the mediators of the system the such Adrénaline. The beat-blockings replace these mediator on the receiving S β but do not cause reaction on behalf of the receiver, or a reaction less strong than if it had received a mediator. Some β-blocking prevent the appearance of the mediators adrenergic, and indirectly are opposed to their actions.

Effects of β-blocking

On the receivers β-1

  • Reduction of the heart rate (negative effects Chronotropic S)

  • Reduction in the cardiac exitability (effect negative Bathmotrope)
  • Reduction of the myocardic contractility (effect negative Inotrope)
  • Fall of the production of renin

On the receivers β-2

  • Limitation with the Vasodilatation (the vasoconstriction via β-2 prevents)

Indications of β-blocking

List β-blocking

β-blocking cardiosélectifs

They block the cardiac receivers β-1 preferentially; they thus decrease the vasoconstriction, the bronchoconstriction and decrease the risk of hypoglycemia.

β-blocking non-cardiosélectifs

  • Nadolol
  • Oxprénolol
  • Propranolol
  • Pindolol
  • Sotalol
  • Carvedilol
  • Labetalol
  • Lévobunolol
  • Timolol

β-blocking with alpha-blocking activity

  • Labétolol
  • Carvédilol

β-blocking with intrinsic sympathomimetic activity (ASI)

These β-blocking have a direct effect stimulating on the receivers β (partially). They can thus prove to be useful in private clinic when the patient presents a relatively important Bradycardie (especially at rest) since the β-blocker effect on the myocardium is slightly decreased. Protective effects on the lipid levels in plasma are also suspected.

Undesirable effects of β-blocking
