Bears of Chicago
The Bears of Chicago ( Chicago Bears in English) is a frankness from the in [[National League Football]] ( NFL ) based with Chicago in the Illinois. Bears are members of the Northern Division of the National conference.
Since their creation, Bears gained only a Super Bowl in January 1986 against the New England Patriots and lost of it one in February 2007 against the Indianapolis Colts . Before the installation of the Super Bowl, the Bears were champions of the NFL in 1921 (Chicago Staleys), 1932, 1933, 1940, 1941, 1943, 1946 and 1963. Their nine titles are exceeded only by the 12 of the Green Bay Packers. On the other hand Bears hold record NFL of players registered with the Hall off Famed of American football with 26 members.
The frankness was founded in 1919 with Decatur, Illinois before settling in Chicago in 1920. Bears receive their visitors with the Soldier Field since 1971, date on which they left Wrigley Field which accommodated them since their arrival in Chicago. Soldier Field is located at the edge of the Lake Michigan. A recent modernization brought it closer to the other more recent enclosures of franknesses NFL.
Bears have for large rivals Packers de Green Bay. This competition was forged with the length of the 170 meetings between the 2 franknesses.
History
1920-1970
Originally named the Decatur Staleys , the club was created by a.E Staley Company de Decatur in 1919. This case of figure is traditional at very old franknesses NFL. Packers rivals owe their name at a company of packing. In 1920, the company engaged Georges Halas and Edward " Dutch" Sternaman sportivement to direct the team, before leaving them the full powers as of the following year. In the official documents of the frankness and NFL, Halas as the founder because he is regarded directed the club during the creation of the NFL in 1920. Bears are with Cardinals of Arizona (which was localized in Chicago before their removal in 1959), only the franknesses founders still in activity. The team moved in 1921 in Chicago under the name of the Chicago Staleys . Hauled and Sternaman repurchased in the tread in Staley Company the rights of the team for 100 US$.
The first years of the NFL were those of the supremacy of Bears, with 4 victories out of the 6. Bears yielded only two titles to their rivals. For this length of time, Bears lost twice against Clanton Bulldogs (winners of the 2 yielded titles), and balanced against Cardinals then close (4 victories each one and 2 null). On the other hand, no other frankness could once beat them more in six years. The number of 34 matches without conceding only one point with the adversaries is that which illustrates best this domination.
The competition with Packers de Green Bay goes back to this time. This competition is one of oldest and most antagonistic of the American professional sport. In 1921, Halas manages by low operations to make exclude Packers from the league to prevent them from engaging a player. This one engaged by Bears, Halas gracefully made reinstate these rivals.
The success of Bears under Halas was immediate. The profit of the championship since 1921 was followed one decade very competitive. In 1924, Bears autoproclamèrent “World champions” on the commemorative photograph after the final victory against Cleveland Bulldogs on December 7th. But the payments of the league then took into account only the matches having taken place before November 30th. Bears were thus classified second behind Cleveland. Their only season with a negative assessment was 1929.
The league had to make provisions to limit the omnipotence of Bears in the Twenties. For example, the rule prohibiting to engage a university player before his promotion is not graduate university is the consequence of engagement by Bears of the player high-speed motorboat of the University of Illinois Red Grange the very same day of its last match of college.
After financial losses at the time of the victory of 1932, “Dutch” Sternaman the associate of Hauled left the organization. Hauled found itself with the full powerss which it kept until its death in 1983.
