The is delirious of interpretation of Serious and Capgras (or is delirious of interpretation ) of the name of the two psychiatrists Paul Sérieux and Joseph Capgras which described it in 1909 is a psychiatric disorder of the group of the paranoiac psychoses.

Description

Of interpretation is a dissociative Délire chronic not is delirious, i.e. that it does not belong to the group of the Schizophrénie S. It settles in the adult, at subjects which presented generally before a paranoiac Personnalité, either insidiously, or brutally after a starting event. The delirious syndrome structure gradually and often evolves/moves during years. It is about one is delirious in which prevails the interpretative mechanism, which is characteristic of the group of the Paranoïa S. By interpretative mechanism, one hears that the subject correctly perceives the reality which surrounds it, but that he allots to the events which he perceives an erroneous direction. The topics of is delirious, i.e. the contents of interpretations relate to ideas of persecution, damage, Complot. The evolution makes that little by little, the whole of the events met by the subject will be attached to the delirious system. For example if a close relation, or a colleague, or a doctor tries to reassure the subject by saying to him that it " is made idées" , that will be immediately interpreted like a sign of membership of the " complot". It is what is called one is delirious " in réseau" since it extends little by little to all the psychic life, and relates to all the fields (emotional, relational and psychic) of the life of the subject. The evolution is chronic.

Treatment

A treatment specialized by a Psychiatre is necessary. It associates a basic treatment Neuroleptique which aims at reducing is delirious it, and possibly a treatment Antidépresseur, in particular during the periods of depressions. The regulation must however be evaluated well about it. It is also possible to propose Anxiolytique S in a specific way when the anguish is too important. Psychotherapy generally has little effect on these patients who show little of introspective capacities, and which are not called in question.

Nosologic situation

The school of French psychiatry individualizes this syndrome within the group of paranoias. There is however no international consensus on this point. In DSM-IV for example, Is delirious it of interpretation of Serious and Capgras is to be classified under the heading delirious Trouble which contains all are delirious them chronic nondissociative, and the term even of Paranoïa disappeared.
