Bcharré

Becharré (بشري) is a city of the north of the Lebanon and birthplace of the famous poet, painter and sculptor Khalil Gibran, like place of origin of Samir Geagea, important character in the Libanaise civil war.

Located in the mountains at 1400 m of altitude, at the edge of the valley of Qadisha. It is near the forest of the Cèdre S millenia of Lebanon. In Bcharré one can practice the Alpine skiing on the covered with snow high mountains, the ski touring in the wooded paths as well as the parapente the summer. History

In antiquity Becharré was a city Phénicien, where one exploited there the wood of the Cèdre, as of the seventh century of our era the Christians Maronite S who fled persecution growing in their connection, were attracted by its mountainous and broken grounds difficult of access. The cross called it Buissera, and it became the spiritual center of the Maronites.
