The name comes from (pagus) basatensis “(country of) Vasates” of the name of the Aquitanian people local.localization
Bazadais is located at the south-east of the town of Langon, the latter belongs to historical Bazadais, it was only one large borough which has sû to benefit from its geographical site and especially from the chief town of sub-prefecture obtained in 1923. Delimited in the south by the course of the Ciron, it opens on the Landes of Gascogne.
It is bordered in the east by the Queyran, in the south and the west by the Large-Moor and in the North-West by the High Moor Of Gironde which some Isoglosse S distinguished from the language Gascon.

Geography
Bazadais is a country of hills. One practices the breeding there, in particular cows with meat of Race bazadaise. This race with gray dress was the subject of a program of conservation. Part of Bazadais is included in the High Moor Of Gironde.
History
The ancestors of bazadais were the Vasates, important people of the Aquitania novempopulana.
Since the first age of iron, their capital Cossium , was a strengthened place controlling the exchanges between Toulouse and Bordeaux.
Bazadais one was évêché since the first Christian organization of Aquitaine.
It integrated the duchy of Gascogne into the 10th century, then was attached to the royal Domaine under Henri IV.
Bertrand de Goth, future Pope Clement V was born with Uzeste, consrtuit in the area seven castles for him and his family, of which Villandraut, Budos, Fargues, the Notched joint and Roquetaillade. The Castle of Roquetaillade, built in 1306 and restored at the 19th Purple century by the Duke, deserves to be visited for its interior installation and its furniture.
Outside, a écomusée testifies to the rural life at the beginning of the 20th century.
