Bazacle
Bazacle is a tourist site and history of the Haute-Garonne located at Toulouse on the the Garonne (fitted of Bazacle) .
History
From time immemorial, the men crossed the Garonne by the bazacle, kind of Gué accessible to foot. The term comes besides from the Latin vadaculum and wants to say small ford. It is at the point of deceleration of the current, after the change of management of the river. The low height of water allowed the construction of the first bridge on the Garonne in Toulouse.In 1190, with authorization of the count Raymond V of Toulouse, a Barrage also called ( fitted of Bazacle ) was built with new mills, the financing of this complex as well as the maintenance costs and of operation was ensured by an association of lords. The benefit were distributed between Actionnaire S following the number of shares in their possession, gradually these shares were exchanged between lords on the market of Toulouse, their courses varied according to the output of the Moulin S.
Bazacle becomes thus the oldest joint stock company in the world.
It is since 1888 that the mills of Bazacle will become gradually producers of electricity and in 1946 property of EDF.
Current
Bazacle always shelters a Hydroelectric station in activity in part of the buildings.
The other part is opened with the public and is visited, in the visit one sees also the Passe with fish
Bazacle also shelters exposed temporary throughout the year according to the programs.
