Bay with Oysters
Baie with the Oysters is a coastal village located at the north of Rodrigues, in the Archipel of the Mascareignes. Its name probably has as origin the fact that this bay was strewn with rocks where abounded of oysters, which is not any more the case today.
The village counts approximately 2500 inhabitants divided in several districts of which Acacias, Pointe the Mouth, Allée Tamarin, Kindness, Madoff Ground and Grand Black Wood. Unloading dock for the fishermen of the surroundings, Baie to Oysters has also an agricultural vocation, as the presence testifies some to the agricultural center of experimentation and a Pépinière. Tourism industry develops gradually, with shops of artisanal products and some lodgings and tables of hosts.
Bay with Oysters has football fields and of basketball, an elementary school as well as a vault, the Saint-Pierre vault.
