Economy
The economy of Bay-Saint-Paul was based a long time on the agriculture and the forest industry which were integrated with difficulty into an market economy as in the other areas far away from the Quebec. The exploitation of these natural resources enabled him to enter modernity gently. However, these natural resources were insufficient to ensure a vigorous industrial takeoff to him as that was the case for areas like the Abitibi, the Coast-North, the Saguenay-Lake-Saint-Jean and the Mauricie. Today, its economy still rests on agriculture and the forest like, since about thirty years, on tourism (to read almost primarily on tourism).
