Bay-Johan-Beetz

Bay-Johan-Beetz is a Municipalité Quebec (Canada), located in the regional Municipalité of county of Minganie and in the administrative area of the Coast-North.

History

Formerly called Piesthebi, this village was famous at the beginning of the 20th century in the honor of a Belgian aristocrat, Johan Beetz, being established in this village during a few years. This last made there build a luxurious manor that the inhabitants call " still today; The château". It contributed a great share to the inhabitants of this village by its knowledge in medicine. Moreover, Bay-Johan-Beetz is the only place with the Canada to be saved by the Spanish influenza since Johan Beetz quarantined the village.
