Baudouin Ier de Guînes

Baudouin Ier , Count d' Ardres (°v. 1038 † a. 1091), wire of Eustace, count de Guines and of Suzanne de Ghermines (or of Graminaceous). It succeeded his father with the Comté of Guînes before 1065.

Biography

The history gives an advantageous idea of its value, its knowledge and regularity of its manners.

In 1070, it took the party of Robert the Clippings, Count de Flandre, against Richilde de Hainaut and its son, Arnoul III of Flanders, claiming with the Comté of Flanders, in the war for the Flanders.

In 1071, it took part in the days of Montcassel and Broqueroies.

In 1084, it made the Pèlerinage of Saint-Jacques-of-Compostelle with Enguerrand, lord of Lillers. To the return Baudouin, fell sick, it was very quite neat with the abbey of Charroux. In reward, they offrèrent both to create monasteries attached to their strongholds. From there the origin comes from the abbeys of Andernes (close to Guînes) and of Ham (close to Lillers). Beaudoin Ier and Adèle Chrétienne, his wife were buried in the abbey of Andernes. This abbey was ruined by the English in 1347, restored then, and completely destroyed in 1544 by the same English.

Beaudoin Ier had a war of feather and sword against Arnoul Ier known as Lambert, lord of Ardres. It renonca when Arnoul Ier known as Lambert made allegiance with Robert II, wire of Robert the Clippings in the absence of this one left party in pilgrimage in Ground-Holy.

Marriage and children

He married Adèle Chrétienne of Holland (°v. 10451085), girl of Florent Ier of Holland. It had as children:
* Gisele or Gillette (°v. 1075 †?), wife towards 1101 Wenemar of Ghent (°v. 10701120) 3rd Burgrave of Ghent, then 1st Lord of the manor of Ghent, lord of Bornhem.
* Adele or Alix (°v. 1080 † v. 1142), woman of Geoffroi II, lord of Semur in Brionnais
* Manassès known as Robert (°v. 1075December 18th 1137)
* Foulques, left in Ground-Holy, becomes Count de Beyrouth
* Guy
* Hugues, archdeacon
