Batucada
The batucada is a kind of traditional percussives musics of Brazil whose rhythmic formulas make of it a sub-genus of the samba.
The whole of the instruments (for the majority of the percussions) constitutes a battery of percussions whose “beat” ( batucada into Brazilian) constitutes the origin of the name of this musical genre. The battery of percussions is in the middle of the schools of samba of Rio de Janeiro and ensures the rhythmic part of their musical compositions (sambas of enredo). One will speak then in this case about battery about samba .
Instruments of the batucada
This section presents only the principal instruments of the battery of samba. Other instruments are sometimes used punctually, like the Reco-reco or the Glockenspiel for example.
Musicians
With the Brazil, the members of a battery of samba are also called ritmistas , in particular when this battery is integrated in a school of samba. This last term is opposed then to passistas , which appoints the dancers of the school.By extension, one uses the term of batucada , in France, to indicate a group of musicians practitioner this musical genre.
