Battle order of the forces engaged in the war of Palestine of 1948

The Battle order of the forces engaged in the war of Palestine of 1948 is complex of share its evolution all during the war and of share the high number of factions and protagonists at the time of the conflict.

From November 30th, 1947 to May 14th, 1948, they are mainly the forces Zionists (Haganah, Palmach, Irgoun and Lehi) and the forces Palestinian (Jihad Al-Muqadas) and of Arab volunteers (Armée with Arab release) who clash.

After the May 15th and the defeat of the forces palestiennes, the Israeli army lately created (Tsahal) faces the Arab forces divided into 2 principal factions: the faction pro-hachémite (Legion Arab and armed Iraqi deployed in Samarie and in the sector with Jerusalem) and the faction anti-hachémite (Egyptian forces in the south; Syrian, Lebanese forces and Armed with Arab release in north).

northern Face :

* 1e brigade, Golani , ordered by Moshe Peled (“Musa”)
operates in the East of Galileo and the Valley of the Jordan;
* 2nd brigade, Carmeli , ordered by Moshe Carmel
operates in the zone of Haïfa and the west of Galileo;
* 11th brigade, Yiftach , ordered by Colonel Mula Cohen
operates into High Galileo.

central Face :

* 3rd brigade, Alexandroni , ordered per daN Even
operates in the plain of Sharon between Such-Opinion and Haïfa;
* 4th brigade, Kiryati , ordered by Michael Ben-Gall
operates in the zone of Tel-Aviv;
* 5th brigade, Guivati , ordered by Shimon Avidam
operates in the north of Negev, the corridor of Jerusalem and with troops disseminated in the establishments of Negev.
It adds up 3000 men divided into 5 battalions.

Sector of Jerusalem :

* 6th brigade, Etzioni , ordered by David Shaltiel
operates in the sector of Jerusalem (besieged);
* 10th brigade, Harel , ordered by Yitzhak Rabin
operates in the sector of the corridor of Jerusalem, in the establishments of Kfar Etzion and the escort of the convoys of supply of the city.

southern Face :

* the 12th brigade, HaNeguev , ordered by Colonel Nahum Sarig
operates in the north of Negev and was disseminated in the various establishments.


Reinforcements :
After the May 15th, in particular following the arrival of material, Haganah is reinforced by 3 additional brigades:
*la 7th mechanized brigade, Sheva ordered by Shlomo Shamir,
operates in the corridor of Jerusalem.
Later it is ordered by Ben Dukelman, at the time of the Dekem operation.
* the 8th armor-plated brigade ordered by Yitzhak Sadeh operates in the corridor of Jerusalem.
It is made up:
- 82e battalion of tanks (about fifteen tanks, half-track vehicles equipped with guns and vehicles of recognition) ordered by Felix Beatus
- 89e mechanized battalion (unit of commandos on jeep) ordered by Moshe Dayan.
* the 9th brigade, Oded , ordered by Uri Yoffe,
operates initially on the northern face.
