Battle of Vouillé

In spring 507, the franque army crosses the the Loire in direction of Poitiers under the command of Clovis and its Thierry oldest son. The army of the Visigoths walk in north to limit their progression by hoping that the Ostrogoth S will support them: the meeting takes place in the plain of Vouillé close to Poitiers.

A terrible body with body starts, until the king Alaric II is killed by Clovis in person. As for the battle of Tolbiac against the Alaman S, this death marks the rout of the Visigoths who are massacred by the Francs.

This victory opens for Clovis the road of midday: it conquers Toulouse, old capital of the Visigoths, Narbonne, the Aquitaine, the Gascogne, the Languedoc and the the Limousin.
