Battle of Tchaldiran

The battles of Tchaldiran (or Chaldoran or Çaldıran ) took place the August 23rd 1514 and ended in a decisive victory of the Ottoman Empire over the Séfévides. Consequently, the Othomans took the control of half is Anatolia. The Othomans had an army more and equipped better, strong with 200  000 soldiers, while the Iranians were between 50  000 and 80  000. The Iranian Shah Ismail was wounded and missed being captured in the conflict. Following their victory, the Othomans took Tabriz, and the Séfévides did not constitute any more one threat for them during nearly one century. It put also fine at risings Alévis in Anatolia.
