Battle of Sunomata
The battles of Sumonata (墨俣川の戦い) is an episode of the Guerre of Gempei.
The April 25th 1181, Minamoto No Yukiie decides to try an attack surprised in the night by finding Taira No Tomomori and its army directly opposite his, on the other side of the river of Sunomata. The Minamoto warriors cross water without encumbers and infiltrate the enemy rows but their ambush fails when them Taira manage to distinguish their dry partisans their adversaries soaked even in the night. Yukiie and the other Minamoto survivors are pushed back on the other side of the river.
