Battle of Strong Duquesne

To the approach of strong Duquesne, Forbes sent the major James Grant to make a recognition in force. During the night of the 13 to the September 14th 1758, a surprised attack of French and their Indian allies pushes back the column with very serious losses. Forbes then decides to wait spring. But, at the autumn 1758, Conrad Weiser, colonist and negotiator pennsylvanien, arrives, with the treaty of Easton, to convince the Indian tribes of the valley of the Ohio to give up French. Not considering more the situation bearable, the commander of Fort Duquesne then decides to give up the place. When he learns this news, Forbes decides to set out again with the attack immediately. When it arrives on the spot, the November 25th 1758, the strong one already was destroyed and given up by the French forces. It decides to rebuild a fort on this site called Fort Pitt, which will give rise to the town of Pittsburgh.
