Battle of Slankamen
The battles of Slankamen was held the August 19th 1691 close to Slankamen (Salankamen), in the North-West of Belgrade, between the Othoman armies and the Austrian and Prussian armed forces.
The Othomans had known many defeats against the Austrians, of which most famous are, the attempt of the catch of Vienna (Austria) in 1683, and the loss of Belgrade recovered by Maximilien II of Bavaria in 1688 and reprocesses it of Bosnia in 1689. Two years after the resumption of Belgrade, the general Louis-Guillaume de Bade-Bade (Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden-Baden) walk accompanied by 30 000 men, along the Danube to face the Othoman army made up of 55 000 men, ordered by the top dog Mustafa Köprülü.
The battle proceeds Western side of the the Danube, close to the exit of its affluent the Tisza. After a hard battle, the Austrian army armed with 20 000 men helped of his Serb militia of 10 000 men, victorious, disperses the Othoman troops and discovers the body of Mustafa Köprülü killed at the time of the combat.
The battle of Slankamen is the last battle of the war austro-Othoman of 1683-1697 and which was completed by the Traité of Karlowitz in 1699.
