Battle of Sidi-Brahim

The battles of Sidi-Brahim was held in from September 22nd to 25th 1845 between the French troops and Abd El Kader. It lasted several days.

French had engaged the 8 {{E}} battalion of hunters to foot and the second squadron of the 2 {{E}} regiment of hussards against the troops of Abd El-Kader.

The battle turns badly for the French troops. Driven back, the hunters take refuge in a mausoleum. Towards the end of the battle, after several days of seat, the men with court of ammunition are reduced by it to cut their balls of pieces to continue to draw. Only septs hunters left alive the battle.

Regarded as an extreme fact of bravery, the battle remains in the memory of the hunters to foot and gives its name to the 8th battalion of hunters to foot, said battalion of Sidi-Brahim . It is registered on the flag of the hunters.
