Battle of Rheinfelden

The battles of Rheinfelden of the February 28th and March 2nd 1638 between the troops of Bernard of Saxony-Weimar, back-up troops of the France, and those of the Bavarian of which Johann von Werth.

France had agreed to pay the maintenance of the troops of Bernard but the expiries not being regularly honoured at the winter 1637-1638 it had nothing any more but 4  000 men.

It is surprised while crossing the the Rhine but can be released by losing two from its commanders, John Philip and Henri II of Rohan which is wounded mortally. Three days later it recrosses and fall on the Bavarian rear-guard making 3  000 prisoners who change camp
