Battle of Resaca
The battles of Resaca' formed outing in the country of Atlanta at the time of American the civil war known as American Civil War. The battle proceeded in two counties of the Georgia (Gordon and Whitfield) from May 13rd to May 15th 1864. It finished in a dubious way by not delivering a final winner in an undeniable way. The battle opposed the military Division of the the Mississippi (carried out by William T. Sherman) on the side of the union and the army of the Tennessee (Joseph E. Johnston) for confederated. There were 5.547 human losses: 2.747 for the Union and 2.800 for the confederation. Johnston had been withdrawn from Rocky Face Ridge to go on the hills around Resaca. May 13rd, 1864, the troops of the union supervised the rebellious lines to determine their position exactly. Extremely of its information the combat was held all the following day, and the troops of the Union were generally pushed back except on the rebellious right side where Sherman which had carried out an opening entirely did not exploit its advantage. May 15th, 1864, the battle continued without giving an advantage to one or the other of the belligerents until Sherman sent a force through the river of Oostanula, with the place known as Lay' S Ferry , in order to block the railway allowing Johnston, the arrival of vivres and of reinforcements. Incompetent to stop this movement of the military forces of the Union, the confederated forces of Johnston were forced with a strategic fold.
