Battle of Rain amndt Lech
The battles of Rain amndt Lech which took place April 14th and 15th 1632 is one of the very important battles of the Guerre Thirty Year old.
The Swedish army ordered by Gustave-Adolphe had seized Nuremberg then of Donauwörth. It travelled towards Ingolstadt to attack it. The count de Tilly, general-in-chief of the imperial and catholic armies made provisions for preventing some, by posting its Bavarian troops, numerically lower, with Rain amndt Lech, city ordering a passage on the the Danube.
After two days of fire heavy on the two sides of the river, Swedish managed to find a passage to the south more, and Tilly reacts to this new event too late. At the time of the combat which followed, Tilly was very seriously wounded by a ball which crashed to pieces the right thigh to him.
Maximilien ordered to be withdrawn on Ingolstadt. It is in this city that Tilly died, the April 30th 1632, after having organized the defense of the city in spite of its sufferings. In fact, Gustave-Adolphe did not manage to seize some.
