Battle of Orleans

The battles of Orleans and of the towns of Beauce in north, in two periods in 1870 intervened:
- October 11th and November 5th with the catch then evacuation of the city by Ier Bavarian body ordered by the general Tan von DER;
- of the 2 to the December 4th IIe armed Prussian directed by prince Frederic-Charles. It was a defeat of the France by the Germany within the framework of the Franco-German war of 1870-71.
The French Army of the Loire was under the command of the general-in-chief Aurelles de Paladines but the strategic decisions were made by Gambetta.
Fearing a combat similar to that of October 11th, the Germans decide not to tackle a face. They infiltrate to the Vault and by the Bannier suburb. At 9 a.m., they are in Aubrais. The Prussians send a member of Parliament to ask for the occupation of the city while threatening to bombard it. At 10 a.m., of Aurelle the evacuation of the city orders.
The engagements took place then within the framework of the battles of Mans.
