Battle of Netley
According to the Anglo-Saxon Chronique the Bataille of Netley opposed in 508 Cerdic de Wessex to a Breton king of the name of Natanleod which it overcame and killed. There are however doubts as for the reliability of the Chronicle for such an old date. In addition, the name Natanleod is of origin Germanic and is derived from the old name - also Germanic - supposed place of the battle Natanlead (wet place).
