Battle of Näfels

The battles of Näfels took place Thursday April 9th 1388 in the Canton of Glaris in Suisse. It marked the end of the military conflict between the Swiss Habsbourg and the Confédérés.

The battle opposed the helped troops glaronnaises of the Schwyzois to the army of the duke of Austria Léopold III. This last was beaten by Confédérés which used the same techniques that those of the Bataille of Morgarten. The Swiss ones disorganized their enemy thanks to ambushes and avalanches of tree trunks.

Consequences

One year after the battle, a 7 years trève is signed between the two parts.
