Battle of Lemnos
Victoire gained the January 18th 1913 (on January 5th in the Calendar Julien, employed by Greece until 1923) by a Greek Squadron ordered by the admiral Koundouriotis over a Turkish fleet, during the first War of Balkans (1912-1913).
Last naval Battle of the conflict, it ensured the Greeks the control of the Aegean Sea. The Turks folded up themselves indeed on their bases of the Dardanelles, of which they did not leave any more until the end of the hostilities.
The retirement of the Othoman fleet gave the occasion to the lieutenant Michel Moutoussis and the Enseigne Aristeides Moraitinis to carry out the first air reconnaissance mission of the history of the naval air force on board a Hydravion Maurice Farman. At the time of a raid carried out the January 24th, they confirmed that the buildings Turkish had found refuge in the base of Nagara and raised with precision their positions, then they released on them four bombs which did not achieve however their goals.
This engagement is called battles of Mondros in Turkey.
