Battle of Legnano

The Bataille of Legnano is a battle which took place the May 29th 1176 during which the infantrymen of the cities of the Ligue lombarde overrode the riders of the Emperor of the Saint Empire Romain Germanique Frederic Ier Barberousse.

It inspired an opera in 4 acts with Giuseppe Verdi: the Battle of Legnano.
