Battle of Holy-Foy

April 28th 1760, a few months only after the defeat of the France on the Flat of Abraham in the town of Quebec, the governor of the News-France, Vaudreuil and the knight of Lévis, push back the British of the general James Murray with the battle of Holy-Foy and besiege the town of Quebec. The fate makes that the British reinforcements arrive in first in News-France, which leads the French troops to move back then to capitulate with Montreal and Three-Rivers shortly after.

The Bataille of Holy-Foy is the last palpitation of the colonial France to the Canada. The three years which will follow this battle will be a military regime managed by the Murray general and this, until the end of the Seven Year old Guerre in Europe. The France chooses to preserve the islands of the the Antilles, such as the Martinique and several others, by the treated of Paris in 1763 thus sacrificing the News-France to the British.

The Monument with the Brave men, located on the Way co.-Foy, was revealed on October 19th, 1863 to commemorate the battle.
