Battle of Fleurus

The battles of Fleurus indicates several events:

  • the battles of Fleurus of 1622 during the Guerre Thirty Year old, between the Spanish army under the orders of Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, general of the catholic Ligue, and the troops of the Protestant Union ordered by bastard the Ernst von Mansfeld: the two parties allotted the avantage  ;

  • the battles of Fleurus of 1690 between the kingdom of France and a coalition within the framework of the Guerre of the league of Augsburg. The marshal of Luxembourg demolished there G. Frederic, prince of Waldeck, one of the most skilful generals of the league of Augsbourg  ;
  • the battles of Fleurus of 1794 between the French Republic and the Prussia. The general Jean-Baptiste Jourdan demolished there the Imperial ones under the orders of the prince de Cobourg   ; it is most important; it gave the Belgium to the France; it is with this battle that one made for the first time use of the Aérostat;
  • the battles of Fleurus of 1815, more commonly called the Bataille of Ligny, took place the June 16th 1815: there the Prussian general Blücher demolished incompletely.
