The battles of Cravant , in the Yonne, is an episode of the Guerre One hundred Year old, which took place the July 31st 1423. It finished on a victory of the English army and its allies Bourguignons over the French Army.
After the Traité of Troyes in 1420 England occupies all the grounds located at the north of the the Loire. In 1422, with the sudden death of Henri V, the hostilities begin again. This battle is one of the first of the resumption of the hostilities.
During this battle, the French Army counted a great number of Scot directed by John Stuart.
When the French rows started to yield, the Scot refused to fold up himself and they were massacred per hundreds and more than 3000 of them perished on banks of the river Yonne. John Stuart and the commander of the French Army was made prisoners.
