Battle of Changsha (1939)

the first battle of Changsha took place of the September 17th to the October 6th 1939. This battle represents an attempt Japan ease of the catch of the town of Changsha during the Sino-Japanese Guerre. It is about the first of four major conflicts having opposed to the Armée imperial Japanese woman to the Chinese nationalist army for the possession with this city. The other battles had place into 1941,1942 and 1944.
In spite of the use of chemical weapons, the imperial army was unable to conquer the city whereas its lines of provisioning were cut. This second Chinese victory of importance, after the victory of Taierzhuang, increased considerably the prestige of the commander Hsueh Yueh.
