The battle of Besancon is a battle which took place in 68 ap JC between the army of Vindex (governor of the province of the Gaulle Lyons) which revolted against Néron and the army of Lucius Verginius Rufus, faithful to Néron.

Vindex initiated a rebellion against Néron. The general Lucius Verginius Rufus moved towards Vesontio (current the Besancon) to make the seat of it. In order to avoid the catch of the place chief of the province, Vindex went there. According to Jean d' Antioche, it are reflected agreement to share the capacity.
