Battle of Anegawa
The daimyō Nobunaga Oda opposed, shouldered by Ieyasu Tokugawa, with an alliance of the clans Asai and Asakura, during the Period Sengoku. It marked the decline of the two last in favors of the first, which were going to extend their influence on Japan.
Context
In April 1570, Oda launched a campaign against the Province of Echizen, fortified town of Yoshikage Asakura, which had been opposed to him little time before. To reach this province, it was to cross that of Ōmi, then controlled by Nagamasa Asai, its vassal and brother-in-law, who had fought with its dimensioned at the time of preceding campaigns.However, whereas the forces of Oda were committed in its grounds, Nagamasa Asai was combined against any waiting with Asakura, and launched an offensive surprised on the troops of the Oda clan. This last was found then taken with the trap, taken in a pincer movement between two powerful armies.
It then had to beat a retreat with the danger of its life, in a movement which was known under the name of. It divided its army into many groups which regained Kyōto by different ways.
Returned in Kyōto, Nobunaga Oda gathered its two larger generals, Hideyoshi Toyotomi and Ieyasu Tokugawa for prépar a campaign, in order to be avenged for its enemies, and to wash the offense of treason.
Unfolding
Oda launched its army, with that of the Tokugawa clan, against the province of Ōmi. August 9th, 1570, these forces met those of Nagamasa Asai, and Yoshikage Asakura, in the valley of the river Anegawa. Oda and of Tokugawa had led to the combat approximately 28.000 men, while the armies those of the clans Asai and Asakura rose with 18.000 soldiers.The general Ieyasu Tokugawa will ouvra began the battle while launching a violent offensive on the side from the enemy, against the troops of Asakura. The men of Oda affontèrent for their part those of Asai.
The clans Asakura and Asai had to conclude a truce which lasted 3 years.
