Battle of Alarcos
The battles of Alarcos is a great military victory of the troops Almohade S of the king Yacoub Almohade, known as Al-Manzor in 1195 over the troops Castilians of the king Alphonse VIII. The battle took place at the village of Alarcos close to the Spanish city of Ciudad Real. The kingdom of Castille (main motor of the Christian reconquest) demolishes in this battle had to sign a peace treaty 10 years with Almohades. This victory made it possible the Almohade empire to consolidate its positions in Al-Andalusians and to emerge like a new power in North Africa and the south of the Iberian peninsula until in 1212.
The victory of Alarcos is regarded as the last great Moslem military exploit in Spain.
