Batoche

Batoche , in the Saskatchewan, is the site of the Bataille of Batoche which in 1885 during the Rébellion of the North-West sees to be opposed the Métis Louis Riel to the Canadian troops of the Major-general Frederick Middleton. The Métis defeat will mark the end of the rebellion.

The camping of Batoche, named according to Xavier Letendre known as Batoche was built in 1872 by Métis colonists. It counted nearly 500 hearts in 1885. Batoche was declared Site national historical in 1923.
