The current official designation was founded in 1908. Previously, the commune bore the name of Batilly, still employed in the spoken language, but which could cause a confusion with the other commune Batilly of the department.

Geography

Batilly-in-Gatinais is located at 105 km of Paris, 58 km of Orleans (prefecture of the Région Centers and of the Département of Loiret), 36 km of Montargis (sub-prefecture of the Loiret) and 16 km of Pithiviers (sub-prefecture of the Loiret).

The city is at the western end of the Gâtinais, near the Forêt of Orleans and of the limit is Beauce.
