Batignolles-Châtillon
In 1846, thanks to the support of bankers who had founded the Compagnie of the railroads of North, is installed with the Batignolles, avenue of Clichy, a limited partnership under the denomination of Ernest Gouin and Co, of the name of its founder. They are in the beginning a workshop mechanical engineering primarily intended to provide locomotive to vapor for the large railway companies.
Exceeding very quickly its initial vocation, this company launches out in the construction of metallic bridges in France, whose first is in 1852 that of Asnières-sur-Seine, then of railway lines in the world (1862, crossed the Pyrenees) and mainly in the colonial empire, finally in the realization of all kinds of public works.
Its rapid pleasing rise in 1871 its transformation into public limit company under the company name of Company of construction of Batignolles, name which it preserves until its fusion in 1968 with the Parisian Company for electric industry (SPIE) to give birth to SPIE-Batignolles. In 1928 it breaks definitively with its initial object by closing its workshops of the avenue of Clichy, of which it makes contribution with its subsidiary company, the general Company of construction of Batignolles-Châtillon engines.
