Bathurst (Australia)

Bathurst (: 37000 inhabitants) is a city (" city") center of the News-Wales-of-South in Australia to approximately 200 km in the west of Sydney.

It is the first point of colonization apart from Sydney in Australia.

The city owes its name to the British Minister for the Colonies of the time, Lord Bathurst.

History

The area was occupied by the Wiradjuri aboriginals before European colonization. George William Evans was the first European to visit the area in 1813.

The city was fondéee in 1815 on the orders of the governor Lachlan Macquarie. It was thus expected that the place becomes the administrative center of the plains of the west of the area of Sydney where were to settle the first colonists.

The populations aboriginals under the direction of leaders as Windradyne opposed to the colonists until the beginning of the year 1820.

Automobile sport
