The bathing suit is a Vêtement intended for the practice of swimming, the bathe at the edge of water, or more generally, with any activity being held the summer.

History

In Roman antiquity, the public baths are very snuffed. With the the Middle Ages, the thermal springs and the sea bathings are considered to be unhealthy for health and their benefits are redécouverts only at the 18th century. One bathed then naked or out of shirt.

At the end of the 19th century, the women bathe in Corset and baggy pants.

Towards 1900, the woman carries a light dress which stops with the knee on a jodhpurs of the same fabric and the man gets dressed with a costume which stops with the calves and with long sleeves because it is improper to show the chest.
