Geography
Geomorphology: a city associated with a lake
This commune is located on the synclinorium of the South of Rennes, structure forming an Appalachian relief: parallel hillocks of orientation NWW-SEE , corresponding to sandstone and schist alternations (differential erosion), perpendicularly crossed by the hydrographic network (cluses of the Unpleasant ).
However, certain places are marked by the by-effect of alpine tectonics, from where the presence of small trough faults miocenes and pliocene. It is such a structure which is at the origin of the Lake Bath-of-Brittany .
Human geography: a pivot of the axis of circulation between Rennes and Nantes
Bath-of-Brittany is located on the road between Rennes and Nantes. Today, it is one 4 ways, but in the past, it was a way marked by many fairs, whose Bain was. At the XVIIIe century, there was nearly 80 between Rennes and Nantes (correspondent with possible halts). With the creation of increasingly fast means of transport, these fairs became less and less numerous until disappearing.
When one leaves Rennes to go to Nantes, Bain is only with one quarter of the course. However, it is with limit of the areas of influence of the two cities which one finds on the charts of the traditional works of geography, illustrating their dissymmetry.
