Bataan

Bataan is a province of Philippines which recovers the whole of the peninsula of Bataan on the island of Luçon. It belongs to the central area of the island. Its capital is Balanga City and it is next to the provinces of Zambales and Pampanga in north. The peninsula of Bataan opens in the west on the southernmost part of the China Sea and extends towards south-east in direction from bay from Manila.

Bataan is historically known to have been the last bastion held by the American forces and the Philippines during the Second world war vis-a-vis the Japanese troops which invaded the archipelago. The Walk of died of Bataan ( Bataan Death March ) where close to: 20000 prisoners (more than 16.000 Filipinos and more than 2.000 American) among: 75000 succumbed, was named according to this province.
