Basville

Basville is a common French, located in the department of the Creuse and the area the Limousin.

Geography

Commune in the east of the department of Hollow, in the canton of Crocq, bordering on the Department of the Puy-de-Dôme. The main activities are the breeding and wood there (with a sawmill). The course of the river Delay it master key in the commune.

History

Before the Revolution, the priory of Basville belonged to the archpriest of Herment and depended on the abbey of the Benedictines of Saint-Alyre, with Clermont-Ferrand. Several names of priors are known for us: Beautiful Jean (1278), Guillaume Mazier (1399), Jean Soft (1499), Nicolas Bruxe (1525), Antoine Bompard, monk of Saint-Alyre (1790).

The commune of Saint-Alvard is attached to Basville in 1836. The commune of Villeneuve is formed on the territory of Basville in 1867.

Places and monuments

  • Romance Church of Saint-Alvard, given in 1249 to the chapter of Herment, which named of it the priest until in 1789. The parish of Saint-Alvard was joined together with that of Basville the December 14th 1836.
