Bastard!!

Bastard!! (バスタード!! - 暗黒の破壊神 -, Basutādo!! - ankoku No hakai shin- ) is a Manga of Kazushi Hagiwara, published in French at Glénat, which republished the series since 2005 with the original jackets and the forewords of the author. The publication of the series always continues, with 24 volumes (more 2 nonofficial) édités.
The series was adapted in a OAV of 6 épisodes.

Summary of the history

400 years after the fall of modern civilization, in a medieval become again world, where the war makes rage… To save the kingdom of Meta-Licana, Tya Notes Yoko, 14 years, girl of the large magus of the country, ressuscite the legendary magician Dark Schneider, who 15 years earlier tried to conquer the world with the head of démoniaques troops.

D.S., démoniaque magician if it is, at the time to be overcome, pronounced a formula enabling him to return to the life, but saw its heart locked up by the large magus in the body of Lucie Lenlen, 14 years also, orphan raised at the sides of Yoko, and a kindness to any test.

Oddly, D.S. ressuscity obeys, gladly badly liking, in Yoko, and helps the kingdom of Meta-Licana, attacked by the troops of Kal Su, which 15 years earlier was one of the lieutenants of D.S. itself. The ultimate goal of Kal Su is of ressusciter Anthrax, legendary God of the destruction, which 400 years earlier destroyed opulent civilization…

The history is based almost only on the magic. The majority of the fates used by the characters bear the names of rock groups (Venom, Megadeth, Helloween, Arch Enemy,…). One can also note that technology is seen like a form of magic: magic of old.

History of the publication

It is into 1987 that the pilot chapter of Bastard appears!! in number 47 of the year of the magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump. Heading " Wizard!! " , this one sets up the first elements of the series, and Kazushi Hagiwara benefits from it to slip of the advertisements of recruitment throughout the history in order to continue this series. It will be necessary however to await 1988 so that finally the manga begins, with the entourement progressive one of the author by many initial draftsmen, who will found the Loud studio together in School.

Gradually, Bastard!! makes great strides growing in Japan, and the series is declined in many forms: CD S, OAV S, video games, Romance S… and of the covers of the magazine are sometimes entirely dedicated to him! In 1995, Bastard!! enters on the international scene, while unloading in Spain at Planeta, then in France the following year at Glénat; to date, one counts 8 translations different from the manga.

In 1999, the publication slows down, with only some chapters per annum, and Bastard!! passes in the Ultra Jump in 2001. The author and his team indeed undertake to redraw the series since the beginning, and all to improve by computer, to arise it in a very new very prestigious edition. However, they also continue in parallel the continuation of the series, and the 24th volume has just left to Japan the summer 2006.

In 1992, the series is adapted in Anime through a series of 6 OAV S, which will appear successively in Japan, of August 1992 in March 1993, and takes again primarily the first volumes of the manga. It is the famous lapping machine Kazuki Yao which lends its voice to Dark Schneider. A DVD left since gathering all the episodes on the same disc. Left in the United States, they remain however new in France.
