The toponym Bastanès is mentioned in XIe century, and appears in the forms Bastenes (1375, contracts of Luntz), Bastanees (1385, notaries of Navarrenx) and Sanctus Laurentius de Bastanès (1608, insinuations of the diocese of Oloron).

History

Paul Raymond note that in 1385, Bastanès counted 28 fires and depended on the Bailliage of Navarrenx.
