Bassoues
Bassoues is a common French, located in the department of the Gers and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.
Geography
Bassoues is located at 35 km in the west of Auch.The plain dug by the parallel valleys of the Baradée and the Guiroue is barred by the west by Crete of a hill on which the village is established.
History
The village of Bassoues (of Bassoa ), is founded on the ground of an ancient forest, stay of Druide S. At the 13th century, Bassoues becomes a country house, rested by the archbishops of Auch, owners of the grounds located around a convent Benedictine. The keep, built towards 1370 by the archbishop Arnaud Aubert, nephew of the Innocent pope VI, testifies nowadays to this time.

The market, the church saint Marie, the old half-timbered houses, the basilica saint Fry and the keep are the vestiges of six hundred years an old past:-
Keep of the 14th century (43 meters height), high towards 1370 per Arnaud Aubert, nephew of the Innocent pope VI. Its massive aspect is accentuated by the presence of four angles of thick buttresses crowned by a gracious belt of machicolation.
- the remainders of the castle of the 17th century, with its round towers with middle height and its windows with stained glasses, moderate a little heavy aspect of the large keep which overhangs it. From there, the main street is engulfed under a long market, bordered by an alignment of covers to half-timbering being pressed on wood pillars. Other side, more open space leaves the place to a well monumental, right in front of the church Sainte-Marie, slightly downwards.
- holy Church Marie. Its bell-tower of the 16th century is same brown stone as the castle. Some steps descend towards the porch of entry decorated with a balson and a stoup carved at the 15th century. Entirely Polychrome, the interior preserves a pulpit in ierre carved of XVe century, a large table representing holy Fris battling against Buckwheats, and several statues out of gilded wooden.
- Basilique Saint-Fry 11th century, Simple church in the beginning, it was clearing and increased by the archbishop of Auch in 1520, which equipped it, inter alia, of its Renaissance doors.
