Basketball in wheel chair
The Basketball in wheel chair, usually called tennis shoe armchair and from now on handibasket, is a Handisport derived from the Basket-ball. Rules

A part is divided into four periods ten minutes each one. Each team is made up of five members. The goal of each team is to mark the greatest number of baskets.
Equipment and ground
The wheel chairs of competition must be in conformity with precise standards enacted by the International federation of Basketball in Wheel chair. The height of the seat, for example, the height of the Câle-foot S, the diameter of the Wheel S or the thickness of the Coussin are thus regulated.
The basketball in wheel chair is played with a balloon of Basket-ball and proceeds on a traditional ground of Basket-ball (the baskets in particular have the same height).

Classification of the handicaps

The athletes motor disabilities are classified of categories according to their functionalities. They receive between 1 and 4,5 points. The player with the most points is that which has the most facility to be driven.

Class 1 : These athletes without abdominal cannot exert an active rotation of the trunk. In a general way, they are the paraplegic of level until D7 and above.
- Class 2 : These athletes can carry out a rotation of the trunk and to develop an active stability, is the paraplegic ones of D8 level in L1.
- Class 3 : These athletes have a good mobility in the frontal plan, can lean ahead and be raised without making use of their arms. It is in a general way the paraplegic ones of L2 level in L4.
- Class 4 : These athletes have an active mobility in all the plans, and can lean on at least a side by sometimes associating a movement of abduction of hips to maintain their balance. They have in general a neurological level L5 and in lower part.
- Class 5 : Certain countries place the athletes are valid classifies of them 5.
The full number of points of each team cannot be higher than 14 points (into international) (one adds the points with the five players). On the other hand each country can make its adaptations specific. France classifies e.g. its players handibasket between 0.5 and 5 whereas Germany plays while aligning itself completely with the IWBF (International Wheelchair Basketball Federation)
Competition
The basketball in wheel chair is an official sport paralympic since the paralympic Jeux of Rome in 1960, which are the paralympic first Jeux to be organized.
