The basilica-cathedral Our-Lady-of-the-Treillised vineyard is the cathedral of Lille. It is of neo-gothic style. It is located in the district of the Vieux-Lille and shelters the miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary, Notre-Dame of the Treillised vineyard, whose existence was already attested at the 12th century.
Its construction began in 1854 to be completed in 1999 by a very modern and sober, gray frontage outside and translucent orange inside, of the architect Pierre-Louis Carlier, a structure of steel of Peter Rice, a rosette of Ladislas Kijno without forgetting the splendid gate of Georges Jeanclos.
This building is also a basilica. It has the statute of cathedral only since 1914.
This frontage has the shape of warhead which contains a circular stained glass, drawn by Ladislas Kijno, in its upper part.
Vaults of the Chorus
They are seven and are richly decorated in a neo-gothic style.
Vault of holy Joseph
Vault of Holy Jeanne d' Arc
One speaks rather here about vault of Jeanne of arc since at the time of its construction Jeanne d' Arc had not been made yet Sainte by the church. On the mosaic of the ground, one finds the holy bulb which was used for oindre the face of the Kings at the time of their sacring. On the mosaics of the walls one finds a first example of parity since one has six figures of man on the left: Saint Martin's day, Clovis, Charlemagne, Hugues Capet, Saint Louis and Louis XVI and six figures of women on the right-sided: Holy Aurélie, White of Castille, Mrs Elisabeth, Holy Genevieve, Holy Clotide and Hidelgarde. The Three canopies tell the life of Jeanne d' Arc: its mission on the left, its career on the right and its martyrdom. Its furnace bridge takes here the shape of a fortress for statue of Jeanne d' Arc. It is out of pink marble of the Pyrenees. On the tomb a low relief is bronzes some reproducing a table of Ingres. On the door of the gate vault Good bronze Pasteur is represented gilded. The sword of honor which is fixed on the base of the statue was offered by the French catholics in 1907, with the Magniez captain who at the time of the inventories, refused to make break with blows of axe the doors of the churches of Saint-jean-Cappel (northern)Vault of holy Jean the Evangelist
Holy Vault
The Holy Vault shelters a copy of the miraculous statue of Notre-Dame of the Treillised vineyard, the original having been stolen in 1969.
