Base Naval Capitán Arturo Prat
The Base Naval Capitán Arturo Prat is a bases the Antarctic Chile enne, pertaining to the Région of Magallanes and the Chilean Antarctic. It was named thus in the honor of Arturo Prat, hero of the Chilean navy. It is the oldest Chilean base in the Antarctic.
It is located at, on the northern coast of the Caletón Iquique, Bahía Chile, island Greenwich (Shetland Islands of the South).
It was inaugurated the February 6th 1947, during the forwarding ordered by Comodore Federico Guesalaga Toro.
It is about a base under the responsibility of the Armée with Chile and among his principal tasks one distinguishes the communications, the studies of the Ionosphère and weather.
